ACST English
ACST English ("the App") helps people learn English vocabulary and pronunciation. This policy explains what data the App handles and why. We do not require an account, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
When you tap record in the Speaking Challenge, the App captures a short audio clip (maximum 30 seconds) of you speaking a target word or sentence. The clip is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our processing service, which:
The clip is processed in memory and is not saved by us — our service does not write your audio to a database or file store. To perform the analysis, the audio is processed by the following third-party sub-processors, who act on our behalf:
These providers process the audio only to return a result and under their own security and data-handling terms. We do not permit them to use your audio to train their models where that setting is available to us.
If you use features that translate words/sentences or check your writing, the text you enter is sent over HTTPS to language-processing services to return the translation or grammar feedback:
Only the text you submit is sent; it is not linked to your identity (there is none).
Some screens embed the YouGlish widget in an in-app web view to show
real-world pronunciation clips for a word. When shown, YouGlish loads from
youglish.com and receives the search word and standard web-request information
(such as IP address), subject to YouGlish's and YouTube's own privacy policies.
The App downloads its vocabulary dataset and word-pronunciation audio from our cloud storage (Supabase). These are read-only downloads of learning content and do not send us personal information beyond the standard network request needed to fetch a file.
Your learning progress, settings, streaks, practice history, and cached audio/vocabulary are stored locally on your device (app storage). We do not upload this to a server or an account. Removing the App deletes this data.
We do not collect contacts, precise or coarse location, photos or media library, calendar, health data, financial data, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. The App requests only the microphone permission, and only for the Speaking Challenge.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. The only sharing is the operational processing described in Section 2 (sending audio/text to the sub-processors needed to produce a feature's result).
ACST English is intended for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the microphone feature and you want to raise a concern, contact us at the address above.
Data in transit is protected with standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). Because there is no account and no server-side profile, there is no stored personal dataset of yours for us to expose.
Because we do not maintain an account or a personal profile tied to you, there is no stored personal data for us to retrieve or delete on request. On-device data is under your control: clear it from the device settings or by uninstalling the App. For any privacy question, contact us at the address above.
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
